A simple design with thoughtful detailing, this airy linen shirt has artfully spaced shell buttons, a curved collar, asymmetrical hem, and two pleats at the reverse for soft volume. The loose silhouette is breathable, comfortable, and understated, allowing Chizu's natural indigo dye to sing.
material : 52% linen | 48% cotton | shell buttons
care :
Unevenness and complexity are a lovely feature of authentic indigo's natural character. Some colour may transfer to lighter surfaces, so take care during the first 5 washes.
We recommend separate cold hand washing for this piece. Do not wring, but press excess water out (or blot by rolling in a flat towel), then hang to air dry in the shade. Iron the reverse with a cool iron if you really want to.
chest : 144cm
back length : 72cm
front length : 64cm
shoulder to arm opening : 33cm
hip : 144cm
Chizu Blue complete every step of the natural indigo dying process themselves, from field to fabric. Founded in 2005 by a cooperative of local women, deep in the majestic Chizu mountains, their hands-on ethos involves growing the indigo plants from seed, cultivating, harvesting, drying, and fermenting the leaves themselves to produce a blue dye of exquisite purity and clarity. It's labour-intensive and highly skilled work, done to preserve and renew the traditional art of Japanese aizome.
Garments are dyed individually up to 10 times to achieve the desired depth of colour, and as a seasonal process, each collection of clothing expresses the intensity and character of a single particular harvest. The result is a unique garment which brings the true culture of indigo to your life / wardrobe.
"Hailing from a small town of about 6,000 people, we incorporate the wisdom of the elderly, the sweat of fellow working individuals, the laughter of children, and the natural essence of Chizu."
