Shigaraki Ware : ceramic vase

A hand-built ceramic vase, with a rough, uneven finish, and torn opening. A beautiful way to display a single stem, loose arrangement, or as a textural accent in an arrangement of small ceramics.

Shigaraki ware is made in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. The region is counted as one of the six oldest pottery producing areas in Japan. The pottery produced there is characterised by its warm colour and highly textured finish, and remains a popular choice for table ware and decorative items.
