The tumbler design is shaped especially to be held, with its little 'waist' fitting comfortably into your hand. Suitable for for tea, coffee, or cold drinks, its white slip glaze would also look beautiful holding pencils, flowers, or brushes, on a desk or in a bathroom.

Because every one of these cups is made by hand, you should expect your cup to have a unique constellation of drips, bumps, and surface markings, as well as slight variations in height and form from the cups pictured.

made in Melbourne by Wonki and J

Wonki and J is the work of creative couple Wonki Kim and Jaeha Lee, making simple pieces for daily use. From their Melbourne studio they skilfully combine 15th century Joseon Dynasty Buncheong Dumbeong pottery techniques with a minimalist sensibility and influences from their Korean heritage.

In Buncheong ceramics, white slip slides across iron-rich clay forms. The blistering heat of the kiln captures the slip’s flow and movement in beautiful drips and pools, sprinkled with unique iron spots, pits, and crackles.

The results are at once wild and constrained, the couple’s minimalist forms communicating stillness and quiet strength.
