A rounded stoneware matcha bowl finished in a softly textured Shino-style glaze with warm blushes of orange where the kiln has kissed the surface. Ideal for preparing matcha, but equally suited to tea, a small dessert or seasonal fruit. The softly rounded form makes it especially comfortable to hold.
Ceramic.
Hand wash recommended.
As a vintage ceramic object, minor variations and signs of age are part of its character.

Matcha has been prepared and enjoyed in Japan for centuries, becoming closely associated with the Japanese tea ceremony, or chanoyu. The bowl, known as a chawan, is central to the experience, with its shape, weight and glaze contributing to the appreciation of the tea.
