senshukai royal pet : mandarin duck

These stylish wooden critters were made by Japanese kokeshi craftsmen in the late 1960s for Senshukai. The range, named ‘Royal Pet’, included more then 20 animals to collect, and were sold monthly by mail order subscription – can you imagine?

Originally inspired by Scandinavian design, Royal Pet figurines are now highly collectable and bring the warmth of natural timber -and midcentury good looks- to any shelf.
