Simplicity of form and decoration is a key feature of Hagi ware. Kunnyu (small cracks in the surface) allow tea to slowly seep into the clay, ultimately changing the colour of the piece over time. It is this transformative nature of Hagi ware that makes it highly prized amongst collectors.
