Known as “Bleu de travail” (in French, 'work blues') for their distinctive hue, our vintage workwear jackets are sourced and made in Europe from 100 % cotton drill, and embellished with hand stitched vintage indigo fabrics from Japan. This particular jacket is in excellent condition with little fading, knife pleat cuffs, and three external patch pockets.

De rigeur for railway workers in 19th century France and never out of production since, the workwear jacket (or chore coat) is a traditional garment with a dynamic, living culture of reinvention. While today you might use their ample, topstitched pockets for your phone and keys (or a copy of l'étranger) instead of tools, these jackets are nonetheless true to their essentially practical and robust origins.

These can be worn all year round as a button-up shirt, open over wool in winter, and as a lighter layer with any summer tee.

Every jacket is a unique original, ready to keeping working for many years to come. Already broken in and bearing the patina of age, the jacket will continue to soften in colour and texture with every wash, as it bears the marks of your own use.
