A vintage souvenir medallion from Sakurajima, Japan's active volcano in Kagoshima Prefecture, anchors this composition. Inscribed 'Sakurajima Kanko Kinen' ('Sakurajima Sightseeing Commemoration') and dating to around the late 1960s, it recalls a time when commemorative medallions were purchased as keepsakes from places visited. Suspended on a vintage silver-toned chain, the addition of a frosted bead lends a quiet sense of balance.
