Shigaraki Ware : ceramic plate

A small hand thrown ceramic plate with mottled glaze and a raw organic edge. Ideal for side dishes, a ring dish, or incense burning. 

Shigaraki ware is made in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. The region is counted as one of the six oldest pottery producing areas in Japan. The pottery produced there is characterised by its warm colour and highly textured finish, and remains a popular choice for table ware and decorative items.
