vintage japanese spinning top
Known as beigoma these traditional Japanese spinning tops are decorated with kanji characters and will make a light humming sound when spun with vigour. With history dating back to the 17th-century Edo period, beigoma were originally made by filling spiral seashells (called "Bai") with sand and sealing them with molten wax— by the 20th century, the toys were made from more resilient cast metal materials.
please note : each spinning top is hand-cast, wholly unique, and chosen at random. The design on your spinning top may vary slightly from the images shown.
