From this story comes the name furoshiki\u003ci\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e-\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003efuro\u003c\/i\u003e, meaning bath, and\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003eshiki\u003c\/i\u003e, meaning to spread.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFuroshiki have long since moved beyond the bathhouse. Unlike their more formal cousins,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003efukusa\u003c\/i\u003e, (used for formal gift presentation and tea ceremony), furoshiki remain humble, easy-to-use objects of a fundamentally practical nature.
