vintage french workwear jacket

De rigueur for railway workers in 19th century France and never out of production since, the workwear jacket (or chore coat) is a traditional garment with a dynamic, living culture of reinvention. While today you might use their ample, topstitched pockets for your phone and keys (or a copy of l'étranger) instead of tools, these jackets are nonetheless true to their essentially practical and robust origins.

Known as “Bleu de travail” (in French, work blues) for their distinctive, deep violet hue, our vintage workwear jackets are sourced and made in France from heavy 100 % cotton drill, just like their ancestors. They can be worn all year round as a button-up shirt, open over wool in winter, and as a lighter layer with any summer tee- buttoned cuffs are très chic rolled and the straight-sided cut is comfortably breezy.

Needless to say, one of these original pieces will serve you for many years, becoming softer in colour and texture with every wash as it reflects the history of your own use.
