hamono : small grip scissors

These U-shaped ‘scissors’ are said to have been designed before the more common X-shaped scissors that are used today. They are often used for cutting threads in sewing, but they have some more interesting purposes in Japan, such as cutting film in photography, candy craft, even arrow making in archery!

Handmade long-handle grip scissors are useful for sharply cutting through smaller materials and ingredients. The short blade is versatile in its function: lightly snip through ribbons and threads or easily clip your herbs. Whether they are for craft, gardening or general use around the house, these are a long-lasting and satisfying tool to keep handy.
