sandy lockwood : large tea pot
by Sandy Lockwood
Based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, master ceramicist Sandy Lockwood creates poetic works which express the inherent qualities of the clays she chooses. Working with salt glazes and wood fired kilns fed by Australian eucalyptus, the intriguing range of nuanced surface textures and fluid forms she achieves is a testament to her practiced hands and refined aesthetic.
This truly spectacular pot demonstrates mastery of craft in harmony with the alchemic magic of intense wood fired heat. Gloriously rounded with a joyfully wonky form and elongated spout, this generous 4 cup capacity teapot presents a moment of sculptural beauty that lasts long after the last drop of tea is shared. Salt glazed and wood fired in Sandy’s own blend of clays, the addition of coarse salt at high temperature in the wood firing process creates unique and dramatic irregularities in the glaze.
Safe to wash in the dishwasher as well as the old fashioned way.
