Ban Inoue
From the beautiful ancient capital Nara, Ban Inoue make breathable garments in simple styles, allowing the soft texture and natural comfort of their caya cloth to take focus. Caya is a significant Japanese textile woven from pure cotton with a fine, netted structure, which becomes waffle-like with each wash and wear. Traditionally woven in Nara, it is renowned in Japan for a beauty of near spiritual quality, inspiring poetry and ukiyo-e woodblock prints of the Edo period. Today, Ban Inoue wish to preserve the gentle aesthetic and practical properties of caya cloth with their effortless and naturally comfortable clothing.
As simple as a pocket on a string, these sweet shoulder bags are surprisingly sturdy, constructed from a double layer of Caya cloth. Closing with a tiny velcro fastening at the inner top, each bag is suspended on a beautiful flat-woven Sanada Himo cord strap, traditionally used in Japan to secure boxes, tie complex knots and adorn armour, signifying unbreakable strength.
